    Antique Lamp Manufacturers

I have an old lamp only and can not find anything about it!?

I have a beautiful antique lamp for Christmas and would love to know more about it. I've been looking online for countless hours trying to find, but can not. Does anyone know what this period would be the lamp? I'll post a link to a couple of photos I took of him. It is made of bronze with a base marble and glass with 3 lighting options separately. There is a number stamped on the bottom: 7818, however, no manufacturer of seals. Even if you believe know the date of manufacture is possible, that would be great. I would like to know more about it. Thanks, here are the pictures: http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m254/kristikclark/photo.jpg Sorry http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m254/kristikclark/photo2.jpg lighting in the photos ... White antique lamps Paros

Paros - marble like in appearance, with its always fresh and white style, rather sculpted, which takes its name resemblance of the fine, pure white marble neoclassical sculpture and was known as "statuary porcelain".

In the 18th century, The French were the first to produce stunning, pure white, unglazed porcelain figures in the famous Sevres factory not far from Paris. Josiah Wedgwood, with their long experimentation with Jasper-ware, then called "Carrara," after the Italian quarry sponsored by Michelangelo.

Paros soon became popular and was produced by other mid-century English and American manufacturers 19. The official catalog of the Exhibition of 1851 Thomas gives credit Battam for the invention of Paros, saying it "succeeded in producing a very perfect imitation of marble, both surface and in tone." While there may be Battam invented, several English factories claimed credit for its development.

But the Staffordshire firm operated by William Taylor Copeland and Thomas Garrett was the first to produce and sell it in 1842 and went on to become one of its most important productions. However, Minton, mid-19th century, finally coined the word "Paros" after Paros, the Greek island that provided much of the pure, white marble used in classical times and what quickly became the accepted name. Parian figures were produced by being cast molded, ie, liquid porcelain, known as sliding, poured into a mold. After drying, the model was removed from the cast and finished by hand before baking. Technically speaking, is an unglazed Parian, or porcelain biscuit.
